#EndBiblePovertyNow
We know that Scripture is inspired by God, teaches all people how to come to salvation through faith in Christ, and gives wisdom about how to live God-honoring lives. It is extremely important for people to have access to the Bible!
But what if they HAVE a Bible, but don’t read it? Or don’t understand it? Or don’t know how to apply God’s wisdom in their lives? That is known as Bible illiteracy.
Only 32% of Christians in the U.S. read the Bible daily.
85% of pastors in Latin America don’t have any Biblical or theological training.
We see this as OUR part in ending Bible poverty: helping people ENGAGE with God’s word and APPLY it to their lives. That is our aim in all of our ministry work (teaching, counseling, pastoral care retreats, and offering other resources).

We regularly get more training in order to hone our skills and increase our effectiveness as teachers and counselors.
There is one such opportunity coming up that we want to share with you!
This September, and again in January, and one other time (yet to be announced), Julio will be participating in three, 3-week seminars of the Bible Teacher School.
These intensive classes will prepare him to continue teaching in Biblical studies schools, which train missionary students to dive deep into scripture and prepare for ministry. They, in turn, will multiply their love for and understanding of God’s word as they serve around the world wherever he calls them.
This September we will be in Lausanne, Switzerland. The training in January 2025 will be in Curitiba, Brazil. In the months that follow the training, Julio will have some opportunity(ies) to teach and apply what he has learned.
Emily has agreed to teach at a counseling school in Switzerland this September, since we will already be over there.
Would you please pray with us for:
this time of training
our work of increasing Bible literacy through teaching opportunities and counseling
the multiplication of our efforts into our students’ and counselees’ circles of influence
Would you like to be a part of that multiplication by donating to cover the training?
Cost of the BTS: $1,000 for the 3-week session (room, board, classes)
Airfare: our tickets to Switzerland cost $1,800 (for both of us)
Emily’s room and board: $600 (or if she audits the course: $1,000)
